This is not England Series Article 1: A man in Ilford, London is approached by officers with their arms drawn and it is because they got a call from a woman who says that her boyfriend does not have a shopping points card. Maybe he does have a card. Maybe he does not. But that is not reason to call the police; nor is it reason for police response. Instead, the police shook their heads and charged her for abuse of police services. Then they noticed she works at Halifax Building Society and that she just lost her job for failing to release Income Support benefit credit advices into customer accounts. She was also charged for this and only wanting to create a diversion by accusing her boyfriend. So, the police went to Halifax Building Society and got access to release all the credit advices in the incoming payment cue. You can see all the outstanding payments across the whole bank network, not yet credited to the customers' accounts, from any Halifax Building Society location. This averted a real crime in progress. The police had already received several calls on this. The payments were sent by the government and refusing to release them to be paid into the client account is a terrorist offence.
